YO! Kai! - Yokai are the super cool creatures of Japanese folklore. I had a lot of fun drawing this one!

The Yokai, from left to right:

- Kitsune - a golden fox with nine tails. Grants wishes and transforms like a tanuki. The basis for the Pokemon Ninetales. Creative, ain't it?

- Plaster Wall - a plaster wall that walks around. That's about it.

- Umbrella Ghost - according to legend, once an object reaches 100 years old, it becomes animate. Animate umbrellas always have one eye and a long tongue.

- Tantanbo (in background) - a big floating head yokai. His spit can turn things to stone.

- Kappa - a turtle-like yokai who lives in rivers and streams. Loves cucumbers.

- Long Neck Woman - A woman with a long stretchy neck. Spooky!

- Medama-Oyaji - "Eyeball Daddy," a character from GeGeGe no Kitaro, an old manga/anime about yokai spirits. It's a really fun show!

Hurray! GeGeGe no Kitaro! More power to those who know about the classics!

I'm guessing the plaster wall could have also served as inspiration for Whomps of the Mario franchise, now that I think about it.

Karaoke-singing Tanuki. If they don't have those when (or rather, if) I go to Japan, I'm going to feel let down.

Also yeeeeeessss yokai
